Petrified Forest/Painted Desert

We took a trip to the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert off of Hwy 180 about 18 miles from Holbrook, AZ where we are staying. The winds were blustery and gale-force. The sky looked like at any time it was going to pour. The further we drove, the better the sky looked--more sun--but still the awful winds. The scenery is awesome. I had a bit of a problem trying to video and photograph the sights because the wind blew the camera. Again, as I have said over and over, the camera is nice but you have to be here in person to really appreciate just how magnificent these rocks, the petrified wood, the canyons, bluffs, and gorges are. As majestic as the mountains are, along the road, there are the happiest yellow and white wild flowers, waving in the breezes.
